あまえ【甘え】

〔子供の〕 attention-seeking (behavior); making up 《to its mother》; 〔他者への過度の依存･期待〕 (a) lack of self-reliance; (excessive) reliance on others; (over)dependence 《on…》.

●親がなんとかしてくれるだろうという甘えがある. He thinks he can always rely on his parents to help him out.

●政官財癒着の甘えの構造 the pattern [system] of collusive interdependence between politicians, bureaucrats, and the business world.
